Robert Atherton studied Stained Glass at Glasgow school of Art and set up the studio in 1998. I design and manufacture leaded panels for doors, windows, room dividers, transoms or simply as glass art to hang on the wall. This bespoke work is installed in the home, office, restraunt, public house and any other suitable building. Any design style can be accommodated - Contemporary, Art Nouveau, Art deco, Victorian, Edwardian, Arts and Crafts, Religious.
My other speciality is fusing glass which involves melting glass together in a kiln to form contemporary, unusual and unique glass art. This work can be in the form of a window, a wall hanging or a more sculptural piece of work. Fused glass is a particurlarly good medium for wall lamps which can be either flat or shaped in the kiln.

Fusing and Slumping
The fused glass class is offered as an evening class for a maximum of 4 people. This is run over a period of 6 weeks and pupils will learn the basics of fusing glass, and glass slumping to change the shape of the glass. (Bowls, vases, T lights.) Individuals can book into one of these classes or a group of 4 can book a block of 6 weeks.

Stained Glass Classes
I teach a class for complete beginners and tailor the class to meet the needs of the individual. Pupils will learn to make a stained glass window panel in the traditional method and if they are so inclined will go on to learn the Tiffany method.
